Bus from Rizhao aka ( the cruise issue ) September 4 - 6th
The last night in Rizhao we went out to eat in a crazy section of town all neon shops and restaurants. We sat out front of a place that looked like every other place the guys decided to order some tripper food. Lamb sticks and tofu noodles is what I ate, Secata larva, baby birds, and whole frogs is what they ate.

eats baby birds beaks and all We left Rizhao for Shanghai by bus it took 8 hours on a sleeper bus. The bus had three rows of bed chairs with a top bunk and a lower bunk, long and narrow transitional bed cots. As in usual Chinese fashion any where there was room for a person there was a person. The bus was packed to it's absolute fullest it had two televisions playing bootlegged / filmed from the movie theater moves dubbed over in to Chinese.
sleeper bus 9 hourslThe countryside was amazing all the way to Shanghai all thorough the night people every where on the roads. People walking, carrying shit, loaded down shanty bikes, trucks full of bags of whatever spilling over the sides of the vehicles. The scene was exactly like every Vietnam movie I have ever seen, the people, the roads, the buildings it was all fairly third world.
The bus crew was Jay ( American, skater ), Chingray ( Chinese, skater ), Jason ( Chinese, biker ), and myself, we arrived in Shanghai at 2:40 in the morning and took a cab to the place where George and a few other skaters or bikers live. Jay went off to his dorm, he is going to the to the international school down the road. Jason went to his house, he Shanghais and is from here, Chingray and I crashed out.
photo on wall of a doorThe place where George lives, is above some shack businesses on a main street, it's on the second floor and has one room. Electricity, running water, a stand up urinal, shower ( no hot water ) and a sink. There are five bunk beds on ether side of a long rectangular room each bed can holds two people, accommodations for ten people. The room has two tables down the center, a hookah various magazines, in chinese and english and a ac unit.
